Mr Adam Strom

Gymnast / Circus Performer

Adam Strom was the School Captain at Brisbane State High School in 2013 and is now a successful gymnast/circus performer who has competed and performed all over the globe. He specialises in the German wheel and has trained in a variety of circus acrobatics. He says that during his time at State High, he "spent so much time in the Performing Arts Centre that it felt like a second home".

Adam Strom grew up attending gymnastic classes since he was six years old and began his circus journey in Brisbane, Australia. He moved to Brisbane State High School in Grade 8, where he graduated as the School Captain. At State High, he also pursued his theatrical interests and is talented in all areas of performance.

In 2014, Strom was accepted into the École de Cirque de Québec in Canada and now lives there. Although German wheel is his main solo skill in circus, his favourite skill is group acrobatics due to the physicality, trusting nature and creative collaboration involved.

He competed in the World Championships in Italy and explains that his plethora of movements was so foreign to the judges that they had no idea how to evaluate the performance. Strom is determined to share his passion for the art of the German Wheel throughout the world.

Strom's personal career highlight is his creation and initial tour of La Valerie by Machine de Cirque, a circus company he started in his hometown of Quebec, Canada. They performed throughout the world in Canada, Romania, Italy, France, the US and Scotland and will continue on.

Strom said it was hard to isolate only one great experience at State High, but some of his personal standouts were the French trip and Swiss exchange program, vocal soirées and dance nights, performing a production of Les Misérables and competing in the talent show with his two brothers as a juggling act.
