Mr Brock Motum
Australian and International Basketballer
Brock Motum has been a basketball player almost his whole life. He recalls never losing a single GPS basketball game his whole time at Brisbane State High School as his team went unbeaten from year 8 to 12, including three GPS wins for the Firsts when he played for the team from year 10 to 12. He enjoyed every aspect of high school; not just the basketball, but also his friends, classes, and teachers.
Upon leaving high school, Brock played college basketball in the United States of America for the Washington State Cougars. During his four years there he scored 1530 points and left as the fifth highest scorer the school has ever had. During his time there he also graduated with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in psychology.
Brock has played for many teams all over the world. He has played pre-season for the Utah Jazz in the NBA, spent a few years with the Adelaide 36ers, as well as multiple teams throughout Europe such as in Lithuania, Turkey and Spain. However, his career highlight in basketball by far is playing for the Australian men's national basketball team, the Boomers, in the 2016 Summer Olympics. His team made it all the way to the bronze medal game against Spain, where he put up 12 points in 16 minutes. Despite the loss Brock still describes it as his all-time high, being an olympian and playing in front of the whole world.
After every single hardship, such as losing the bronze medal game, or injuries such as fracturing his leg, he described how he has bounced back without fail to become better than ever. Brock's career is still evolving. Just recently he signed to a team in Turkey again and now with the 2021 Summer Olympics on the horizon, he still has a lot to look forward to.
