Mr Chris Kazonis
Real Estate Principal
Chris Kazonis (class of 1969) started his work life as a claims clerk with Metro Ford but is now the principal of Drakos Real Estate in West End, Brisbane, where he has worked since 1982. Chris has been a resident of West End his whole life and has been fully immersed in its community.
Chris' wife, Carolyn, and their two children, Melissa and Emanuel, also attended State High. When reminiscing about school days, saying good bye to his time at the school was one of the saddest occasions, as Chris treasured his time at the there. Many of his friends from school remain his friends all these years later.
Rugby was one of Chris' favourite activities at school, although he reports that he was not good enough for the First XV. Sport is something he is still very much a part of though, as he is chair of the sporting complex at Goodwin Park Yeronga. Chris is also the chairperson of the Greek Paniyiri Festival, the annual celebration of the Greek community in West End.
His advice to current BSHS students is that many things are achievable if you put your mind to it and it doesn't matter if you don't know what you want to do straight out of school – "I didn't, but things have a way of falling into place".
