Mr Chinmay Sonawane

Zoologist

Chinmay has a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology from Harvard University. He has recently been awarded the Captain Jonathan Fay Prize by the Radcliffe Institute which is awarded to the graduating senior who has produced the most outstanding imaginative work or piece of original research in any field.

Chinmay says that he feels extremely fortunate to have had some inspiring teachers at BSHS, particularly in his senior years (Ms Bracey, Mr Cocks, Mr Pickles, Mr Pike and Ms Tavio), who helped him to develop interests in biology and philosophy.

Equally, he felt lucky to have met and made great friends through GPS soccer from day one of high school and is still very close to these boys even today!

"All of this has reminded me that while State High has some incredible resources, from the wide choice of subjects to facilities like Fursden Rd, above all, it's the people at State High that made my five years there really special and I'd really encourage all current students to find a group of mates and teachers who support them".
