Ms Becky Lucas
Comedian
Becky Lucas is a stand-up comedian and writer who graduated from State High in 2007. Her career in comedy started in 2013, when she was a National RAW Comedy finalist. Since then, she has been handpicked for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and written and performed her own solo shows. Her biggest achievement to date is her debut on American TV for the late-night show, Conan, hosted by Conan Obrien.
Growing up, she loved to watch Seinfeld and said that "being a comedian was always a dream job but not something I really thought I'd end up pursuing". She commenced a Law degree before she quickly realised it wasn't for her.
Becky considers her State High years as "invaluable", helping to make her a better comedian because the school's diversity gave her the ability to interact with so many different and unique types of people. Some of her fondest memories are of lunch time, playing pranks on teachers and being sent out of class for being too giggly.
Her advice to all students is "Work hard and make the most of your opportunities".
